Rainbow Six Siege is still getting love from both its community and Ubisoft. Hailed as one of the best multi-player games of today, it can be a hassle to both get started in this tactical shooter and keep up with the updates. With that said, we're jumping into a list of the best operators so that you know which one to pick from among so many characters.
Best Rainbow Six Siege attackers

Nomad
Nomad holds her title as the best character against highly mobile operators. Her repulsion grenade is the ideal tool to cover the back of attackers once they have entered and are close to the bomb zones.
Her weapons, the AK-74M or the ARX200, are solid and well-balanced choices for any playstyle. All of which make Nomad an obvious choice for any attacker team.

Zero
Zero is another well-balanced and versatile attacker. He's one of the few offensive operators with a submachine gun option, the MP7, while his Argus cameras gather intel and are a threat to defenders.
He's also one of the few operators to have received a speed-up buff recently, making it easier for him to go in, drop a camera and get out.

Thatcher
The only real downside to Thatcher is how often he's banned from Siege. This, however, only proves how powerful he can be with his EMP grenades, which also happen to be the most useful tool in the offensive arsenal since they fry any electrical device in range and are almost impossible to counter.
With his nerfed speed, his most solid configuration, the L85A2, pairs perfectly with his grenades, making him the best attacker available. Good luck getting through the ban phase, though.

Best Rainbow Six Siege defenders
Jäger
Jäger is the one operator Ubisoft continues to nerf, but who continues to defy expectations in the game. His Active Defense System is the most reliable tool ever made and despite not having a 2.5x scope, his 416-C Carbine is a perfect weapon for defending. So as long as he keeps his arsenal, this legend will stay alive.
Mira
Mira's only catch is how hard she is to play. The Spanish operator is nowhere near as easy to master as Kapkan or Castle, but once you get used to her mirrors and master the Vector's recoil, there won't be many opponents that become a nuisance.
Her Black Mirrors provide an insight into the attacking team's strategies, plus her Nitro Cell and secondary shotgun make her usable to counter-attacking plays and small incursions.
Valkyrie
Another defender that Ubisoft keeps nerfing, Valkyrie's cameras retain their strength even if they can no longer be thrown to the map's exterior points. They're incredibly useful for monitoring internal areas that aren't covered by the map's default cameras.
Throw in a solid submachine gun like the MPX and a Nitro Cell, and you've got yourself a must-pick operator.
