Maximise damage
The first thing to think about is the scope, the mark that shows where you’re aiming. If you shoot when it’s closed, you increase the chances of a critical hit and you can stun minor enemies.
On the other hand, if you prefer to shoot using the sight glass, you should change the settings so that it keeps the last distance you set instead of going back to default.
Your knife and stealth, the keys to survival
The knife is one of the key weapons in the remake, and players can rely on it to deflect almost anything.
Because of this, the remake features a knife durability system: each time you parry, stab and kill an opponent, it dulls until it breaks.
You can pick up similar weapons as you go along, although thankfully, the merchant can make it as good as new. It’s best to invest in durability and damage so that you can use it more.
With the addition of stealth in the new remake, level designs are used that encourage a more leisurely playstyle, increasing the finishing options and ways to reduce the number of enemies and ammunition expenditure.
Buy the treasure map
Crossing paths with the merchant in Resident Evil 4 is always cause for joy. This is even more so with the new extras tab. The first thing you should buy: treasure maps.
In addition to mapping out the village or the castle, these maps reveal the hidden locations of treasure, collectibles and blue medallions.
Everyone has their weakness
One of the best-known tricks in Resident Evil 4 is how to kill Salazar instantly. If you don’t know it yet, it involves attacking him just once with the rocket launcher. That said, all the RE4 Remake enemies have their Achilles’ heel.
In the case of the Plagas, the parasites that erupt from villagers and other living beings, it’s light, so use any weapon that flashes light to deal extra damage.
You can also anticipate their actions just by observing. If you shoot a villager in the hand while he’s carrying an axe, you’ll do a pretty good job at disarming him. Shooting the legs is usually another good way to knock them down.
Use charms
Charms are collectibles and power-ups. You can attach several charms to your attache case to gain advantages. To unlock charms, players must test their aim at the merchant’s shooting range. For every three tokens you win, you earn a random charm.
Performing well will earn you a special token that boosts the rarity and effect of the charm.
Requests: well-paid side quests
Another new feature in the Resident Evil 4 Remake are requests. A cross between side quests and simple challenges, these are different missions that appear as you progress through the story that have you complete a challenge or offer short stories through texts with a very specific goal.
The reward for the request depends on the colour of the slip. This is how you get the spinels that allow you to purchase extra items from the store.
Get the most out of your treasure
If you’re coming from Resident Evil 4, you might already know this. If you come across treasure in which you can inlay gemstones, you can drastically increase their value by combining them. It’s also worth waiting to sell until you have the optimal gem colour combinations, since each colour yields a different value.
