How to Combat the New Negative Effects in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak

The new expansion to the original Monster Hunter Rise features a host of new challenges and side effects from new monsters. To make these challenges less painful, we’re rounded up some information so that you know what you’re up against.

Bleeding

How to stop the bleeding effect

The bleeding effect can be cured by one of two ways:

Eating a well-done steak.

Crouching down and staying still.

What is the bleeding effect and how do you get it?

Bleeding is a status effect in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak that certain monsters and their attacks can give players.

In this state, a part of your character’s health bar will appear red.

While the effect is active, moving, attacking or dodging will increase the bleeding build-up indicator on your hunter’s health bar.

From then on, all the damage you receive will do you additional damage based on your bleeding indicator.

Frenzy

How to cure frenzy

In Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak there is no cure as such for when your character suffers frenzy. However, you can prevent this ailment or virus before it is completely incubated in your hunter’s body. When Gore Magala inflicts frenzy on you by enveloping your character’s body in a purple cloud, hurry up and do the following:

Go on the offensive and start dealing damage to Gore Magala as quickly as you can.

If you can reach a high damage threshold, you can prevent the frenzy incubation from being completed.

You can also eat nulberries to increase the time it takes for frenzy to accumulate.

The only way to shake this virus off during an ongoing mission is by falling unconscious or going to sleep in the base camp bed.

How does frenzy affect hunters?

When your character is infected with frenzy during a mission, you’ll be left vulnerable to damage:

Your natural ability to heal will be lost.

It leaves you more susceptible to attacks, increasing the amount of damage you take from each hit.

If you’re able to beat the frenzy virus before it’s fully incubated, it will reverse its effect and increase your character’s affinity, giving you more chances to do a critical attack.

Bloodblight

How to cure bloodblight

When you’re fighting the monster Malzeno, it’s very likely that at some point in the battle you’ll end up getting the new bloodblight virus. This plague can’t be cured or shaken with any healing items, however, there is a way to ‘beat’ it and alter its negative effects:

Once you have it, the only way to stop bloodblight from affecting you is to attack Malzeno.

Depending on the damage you deal to Malzeno while you have bloodblight, your character’s health will recover in proportion to the damage done.

Keep in mind that bloodblight lasts for a while when you’re inflicted with it, so the only way to get its effect to wear off is to wait for it to pass.

What negative effects does bloodblight cause and how does it work?

When a player is infected with bloodblight during a Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak mission, these are the negative effects they’ll deal with:

Your natural healing process is affected.

The red part of your health bar drains progressively, and if it drains completely, the green part will start to drain away too.

Decreases the amount of health you can recuperate with items.
